Ben Barnes
Ben Barnes is the former Lieutenant Governor of Texas and speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. He is the founder and current principal of Entrecorp, an Austin-based consulting firm. Mr. Barnes has been a member of the board of directors of 11 major corporations, including Continental Airlines and American Physicians Service Group. He has a distinguished record of public service and has received numerous honors and civic commendations.
Jack Carter
After his retirement as CFO of Pogo Producing Co. (NYSE), Jack Carter founded the Baylor College of Medicine Technology Corporation, where he serves as Chairman. He also co-founded Houston National Bank, started the first mutual fund in Texas (the "Texas Fund"), and served as Managing Director of Lehman Brothers. Mr. Carter sits on the board of several prominent family foundations including the Kleberg Foundation in San Antonio.
Clark Covert
Clark Covert is founder and CEO of Leasing Group, Inc. and LeasingGroup.com, an Austin-based multimillion dollar technology equipment leasing company, started in 1988 to serve Dell Computer Corporation. Prior to LGI, Mr. Covert co-founded and was a principal in C&G Leasing, as well as founding the Texas Equipment Lessors Association.
Dr. William Cunningham
Served as Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of The University of Texas System from September 1992 to July 2000. He currently holds the James L. Bayless Chair for Free Enterprise in the Red McCombs College of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Cunningham served as President of The University of Texas at Austin from 1985-1992 and was Dean of the College of Business Administration / Graduate School of Business from 1983 – 1985. Dr. Cunningham received his BBA, MBA and Ph.D. from Michigan State University. He has served on various public commissions and boards, including The University of Texas Investment Management Company Board of Directors, the Southwest Research Institute, and the Economic Advisory Committee of the United States Department of Commerce. Dr. Cunningham is currently a member of the Board of Southwest Airlines, Jefferson-Pilot Corporation, Introgen Therapeutics and ViaSystems. He also serves on the John Hancock Mutual Fund Board.
Jim Hammock
Jim Hammock is currently Chairman of the board and former CEO of Hire.com, a Kleiner Perkins and Techxas Ventures-backed Internet software and ASP company. Previously, Mr. Hammock has been CEO of three venture-backed technology companies including Silicon Compiler Systems, founded by the notable venture capitalist, John Doerr. Mr. Hammock was also a venture partner at Kleiner Perkins and spent 16 years with IBM Corporation.
John Hime
During his 25-year high tech career, John Hime was the early marketing executive in four remarkable high tech success stories: Tivoli Systems, MIPS Computer Systems, Frame Technology and Sun Microsystems. He is recognized as an Austin "super-angel", having invested and joined the boards or advisory boards of over 30 early-stage technology companies.
David Lunsford
David Lunsford was the third engineer hired by Dell Computer Corporation in 1986, and has since served in several technology leadership and development roles with the company. He most recently participated in evaluating new and advanced technologies for Dell and served as a director of strategic investments for Dell Ventures, reporting to Dell's senior Vice President of Product and Technology Strategy.
Mike Maples
Mike Maples most recently served as executive vice president of Microsoft's Worldwide Products Group and member of the Office of the President, reporting to Bill Gates. He currently holds the position of Microsoft Ambassador, advising the corporation on strategic relationships and management initiatives. Prior to joining Microsoft, he served as director of software strategy at IBM. He is currently on the boards of J. D. Edwards & Co., Lexmark Corporation, Mission Critical Software, Motive Communications, Alibre, and Concero (formerly PSW Technologies). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma University and a master of business administration from Oklahoma City University.
Rick Salwen
Rick Salwen was General Counsel to Dell Computer Corporation, reporting to Michael Dell, when the company grew from $250 million to over $5 billion. He was instrumental in negotiating many of the technology licensing and commercial agreements in Dell's early stages. He has also served as a partner with the Perot Group and as Associate General Counsel of EDS Corporation.
Jack Webb
Jack Webb founded and is CEO of Jack Webb and Associates, a prominent Houston-based workout company. He has held executive banking and energy industry positions and has received five appointments from various presidents of the United States, including his current assignment as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Ghana.
Marc Seriff
Marc Seriff is the co-founder and retired CTO of America OnLine. He has co-invested with Techxas Ventures and its principals since 1998 and serves on the board of directors of several of its portfolio companies including, Hire.com. He previously served on the Advisory Board of Activerse when Techxas Ventures partner Steve Vandegrift was CEO.
