The Company: BroadJump is a provider of solutions and services
for DSL, cable, and wireless broadband providers. BroadJump software automates
the interactions between broadband service providers, content providers, and
subscribers by streamlining installation, managing the broadband connection and
facilitating fulfillment of new services. This automation significantly reduces
operating costs while giving broadband service providers a more effective way of
creating sustainable revenues. The software and support automation market can be
divided into three segments: deployment solutions, service solutions, and
maintenance. BroadJump's primary strength is in the connectivity and deployment
software and services.
Financial Support: Techxas Ventures led a Series A investment round and
helped organize a syndicate of other value-added investors over multiple rounds,
including Austin Ventures, Accel Partners, SBC, Nortel, and Bellsouth.
Operational Support: The founders of BroadJump originally
approached Techxas Ventures because they valued Mike LaVigna's extensive
communications industry expertise, including 12 years as President and Chief
Operating Officer of Bolt, Beranek, and Newman during their build out of the
ARPANET. Mike joined BroadJump's Board and Techxas has helped in their
development including facilitating discussions with major corporate accounts,
identifying key sales personnel to hire early on, and facilitating introductions
with SBC who became BroadJump's largest DSL customer and the lead strategic
investor for the series C financing. Mike LaVigna played an active role in the
completing of the BroadJump merger with Motive Communications.
